SatFinder Updater installation into your PC

SatFinder Updater is the program that runs on our computer that will help us to find our PSP and install the necessary files in it. Also it can be used to update TLE files when they expire and when we want to change the observation point coordinates. Install SatFinder Updater is very easy thanks to its automatic installer. Here we are going to see the entire process step by step.

First of all, run the installer and choose your language.

Here we need to click on Next.

Here the only available package is Satfinder Portable. We ensure that it is selected and click Next.

Select the directory you want to install into. Then click "Install".

The installation process begins. When he finishes, the next window appears.

At this point the only thing we have to do is make sure that the checkbox is selected and click "Finish". In this way, we will run SatFinder Updater and continue with the installation, now with the PSP ready.

SatFinder Updater emulates to be a virtual PSP but it is something purely aesthetic. The first step is to select our language in the combo box.

With this selection, we also determine what language will be installed.Today is only available in English and Spanish.

SatFinder Updater warns us that we should not have directories called "PSP" in the root directory of our hard drives. Once checked this point, click on "Search for PSP." If we have not plugged our PSP's USB port, now is the best time to do it. In addition we must turn on the USB transmision mode.

Once found it (in this case F:), we are ready to install the necessary files. So we can click on "Install SatFinder Portable in the PSP."

Once installed them, we can see a configuration screen about the observation point and more options. Enter the name of your city/place, in latitude north degrees (northing), negative if it is south latitude. The same with the longitude, negative if it is west longitude. With the altitude there are no problems. The UTC offset is in hours. If our time zone is GMT +1, we have to put 1. We have to check the daylight saving time and the PSP Slim checkboxes if necessary. To find out our geographic position we can use www.calsky.com. Press "Save and continue". Several files will be copied to the PSP.

Now we can udate the TLE files with information about satellite position. You will need to be connected to the Internet, in order to reach the web server Celestrak.com. Then click on "Update satellites."

Once downloaded the TLE files successfully, we are ready to start using Satfinder Portable. Press "Exit" and enjoy it!

Now the only thing you should do is to go to the gaming section in your PSP and find this icon:

When you choose it, the desktop changes and appears as follows:

Press X to start the program and start enjoying it.
